POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Marist loses both games to Manhattan College during Saturday’s double header, scoring only…
“Move out the way, please don’t be a hero.”
The lyrics from the song Skateboard P by MadeinTYO blasted over the speakers as Marist junior Brandi Coon stepped up to the plate. The bases were loaded with two outs as Marist trailed by just one run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Unfortunately for the Red Foxes, neither Coon nor anyone else would manage the heroic hit they so desperately needed to give them their second win on the day.
The Red Foxes earned the first win, yet were unable to send home any runners in the second game, giving Army a shutout victory and splitting the double header.
Army West Point will travel to Poughkeepsie for their only meetings with the Red Foxes this season. The Red Foxes and the Black Knights have yet to face any of the same teams for the 2018 season, yet both have been struggling against larger opponents.
From beyond the grave, James J. McCann continues to perpetuate Marist Athletics through his foundation, the James J. McCann Charitable Trust.
Tim Murray called Ausanio in a panic searching for a new head coach, after a late August resignation left the team without a skipper. Murray asked Ausanio to bail the team out during the 2009 season. Ten years later, Murray’s panicked hire has worked out pretty well.
