Meet the Team


Bridget Reilly  Editor-in-Chief

Bridget is a senior from Yardley, Pennsylvania, studying Sports Communication and Journalism. Bridget interned with her local news publication for the summer, The Bucks County Courier Times. She is also a Marist Ambassador and Tour Guide, the Social Media Chair for the Marist Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, and enjoys spending her weekends competing on the Marist Ski Team.


Sam DiGiovanniCo-Deputy Editor-in-Chief 

Sam is a senior from Doylestown, Pennsylvania majoring in Communication with concentrations in Sports Communications and Journalism. His ideal future job is being a basketball reporter/writer. He currently writes about basketball for The Knicks Wall. All his work can be found at samdigiovanni.home.blog.


Jonathan Kinane • Co-Deputy Editor-in-Chief • Women’s Basketball Beat Writer

Jonathan is a junior Communications major with concentrations in Sports Communications and Journalism and a minor in History. He loves the finding new angles and using vivid language in his reporting. He is from Syracuse, New York, and will stand by the fact that Poughkeepsie is not even close to Upstate New York.


Mackenzie Meaney  • Managing Editor • Women’s Lacrosse Beat Writer

Mackenzie Meaney is a senior at Marist, studying Journalism and Sports Communication. She is a member of the club women’s lacrosse team at Marist, and works as event staff for most of the Red Foxes sports games. Mackenzie has had stories featured in Sports Illustrated during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, and hopes to be a sport writer at one of the major outlets. 


Connor KurpatAssociate Editor • Multimedia Reporter

Connor is a senior who is majoring in sports communication and journalism and minoring in film studies. In addition to working for Center Field, Connor also works as the sports producer from Marist College Television and as a contributor for FanSided’s Just Blog Baby. He is looking to pursue a career as a sports journalist or as a on-air talent for a major sports network.


Ricardo Martinez-PazAssistant Editor

Ricardo is a junior from Princeton, New Jersey, studying Sports Communication and Journalism with a minor in Psychology. His favorite teams are the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia 76ers, and Real Madrid and hopes to work for or cover one of these teams in the future or work for ESPN.


Jarod Rodriguez Director of Social Media

Jarod is a junior from Connecticut, majoring in Sports Communication and Advertising at Marist. He is the co-host/creator of the NYFlyZone Podcast and will be head of social media at Centerfield. Let’s go Mets! Eli>Brady Rap and sneaker enthusiast.


Gabrielle Bean Multimedia Director, Graphic Designer

Gabrielle is a junior from Minnesota majoring in Sports Communication, with a double minor in Business and Graphic Design.  With experience in announcing, writing, editing, digital design and more, she hopes her career will take her on the route of football working in Client Relations and the opportunity of agency.  But for now, she is finding plenty of growth opportunities at Marist.


Ian DorseyStaff Writer, Photographer

Ian is a senior at Marist, studying Sports Communication and minoring in Digital Media. He has always had a passion for sports; particularly, an undying love for Boston sports.


Leander Schaerlaeckens • Faculty Advisor

Leander Schaerlaeckens is a Professional Lecturer in Sports Communication at Marist and serves as the faculty advisor to Center Field. He’s also the soccer columnist at Yahoo Sports and previously worked at ESPN and FOX Sports. His writing has appeared in the New York Times and ESPN The Magazine and was twice noted in the Best American Sports Writing anthology.
