In the final seconds of the game, the Red Foxes secured their first win of the season this afternoon in a nail-biter against Binghamton.
When Marist announced all senior players to walk out to half-court with their loved ones to be honored during the pre-game, there was one player to step forward. Baab is the only senior on the team of 13. The 6’2 forward out of Chaska, Minnesota, has spent all four years at Marist, playing in 101 games.
Niagara forward Victoria Rampado got the best of Marist guard Rebekah Hand. More than that, Niagara led for the entire game in a 68-61 win on Saturday night in McCann Arena.
Coming off of a winning record of 10-9 last season, Marist Women’s Lacrosse has high hopes for the season ahead, hoping to win their first MAAC championship since 2010.
On McCann Arena’s annual “Pack the House” game at Marist, the crowd erupted after redshirt sophomore Alana Gilmer scored the team’s first basket, and fans did not have a reason to settle down until the final buzzer. Unfortunately, Quinnipiac thrives in situations like these.
Marist sent seniors Obi Momah and Connor McClenaghan home happy with a little help from junior guard Ryan Funk to notch a seventh consecutive senior game win. Funk scored a career-high 24 points and made six of nine from beyond the three-point line.
The Red Foxes showed strength in the first half, frustrating the Air Force Falcons with their zone defense in the second quarter. However, they lost momentum in the second half as they were out shot 23 to 8.
The Marist Baseball team enters the 2018 season wearing the traditional red and white bracelet with this year’s team motto: “One Set of Eyes.” As a unit of one, the team is focused on repeating what they accomplished last year.
Not many people outside of the Northeast have heard of Marist College, and even fewer could tell you anything about its men’s tennis team, including its own student body. And yet, this little-known program has been able to piece together one of the most impressive in-conference records in the NCAA, losing only nine total dual conference matches over the past 20 years.
“If it is not clicking on the offensive end, we have to pick it up on the defensive end. Championship teams are made on the defensive end,” Marist guard Grace Vander Weide said after the Red Foxes’ 58-47 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins on Sunday.
