The women of the Marist basketball team share their thoughts on the disparities between the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments in 2021 as well as years past.
Marist played its most complete game of the season, dispatching Fairfield 66-50 in the first semifinal of the MAAC Tournament. The Red Foxes improve to 15-1 in the MAAC semifinals and will play in their fourth consecutive title game (not counting last year).
As the women step back into the MAAC Tournament, they’re looking to take things into their own hands, including the trophy.
Marist powered its way to a 69-44 win over a depleted Siena team on Saturday afternoon at the UHY Center just outside of Albany. The victory was the Red Foxes’ fifth in a row and their seventh consecutive triumph over the Saints.
Marist earned its 10th victory of the season and completed the sweep of Niagara after dispatching the Purple Eagles 67-45 at the Gallagher Center just outside of Buffalo.
After losing a heartbreaker to Fairfield last Saturday, Marist hung on for dear life but managed to escape on the right side of a 66-60 overtime thriller at Niagara. The win was Marist’s 12th straight at the Gallagher Center.
Marist saw their chances of sweeping Fairfield end in heartbreak, blowing a large lead and dropping a 61-58 thriller to the Stags at Alumni Hall on Saturday night.
Marist used a mix of timely offense and smothering defense to hand Fairfield a 56-38 defeat on Friday evening at Alumni Hall. With the win, the Red Foxes move into first place in the MAAC.
Marist heads to Connecticut to play conference-leading Fairfield.
