Women’s Basketball Placed on Pause

After a relatively smooth start to their season, all things considered, the Marist women’s basketball has paused all team activities according to the athletic department

The pause is the result of a positive COVID-19 test from an official who worked Marist’s 67-48 win over Albany on Friday.

“The top priority of Marist College throughout this pandemic has been the health and safety of the entire campus community.” Read the statement. “The Marist Athletics Department has maintained strict compliance with protocols established by the NCAA, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, New York State, and Dutchess County.”

The news of the pause came a day after the Red Foxes’ weekend series with Fairfield was canceled because of contract tracing protocols following the Stags games against Siena last weekend. Marist’s game on December 22nd against Northeastern has also been canceled.

The Red Foxes join Siena and Monmouth as MAAC women’s basketball teams that are currently on pause.
