Center Stage: The Week’s Top Performers

Center Stage is back for more! It was another busy week in the world of Marist sports. Vote for who you think the best Red Fox was on our social media polls.

Football: Dwayne Menders, Jr. was one of the few highlights from Marist’s 37-14 loss at Columbia on Saturday. The redshirt junior wide receiver returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown and finished with 126 all-purpose yards. He was later named PFL Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.

Women’s Soccer: The Red Foxes earned their second consecutive draw against Fairfield in their MAAC opener on Saturday. Junior forward Brooke Cergol was the only Marist player to find the back of the net, scoring in the late minutes of the first half. Cergol has two goals in her last three games.

Volleyball: Marist did not have much fun on their Western New York road trip, losing to Canisius and Niagara and only winning one set over the combined matches. Senior McKinley Fox did the best she could to set the table for her teammates, totaling 73 assists over the two matches, including 44 at Canisius.

Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team also finished with a 1-1 draw on Saturday, unable to a second goal against Bryant. Junior midfielder Henrique Cruz scored his first goal of the season on a blast into the back of the net in the 16th minute. The Red Foxes outshot their opponents 17-6 but had to settle for the tie.
