Center Stage: The Week’s Top Performers

Center Stage is back for more! It was another busy week in the world of Marist sports. Vote for who you think the best Red Fox was on our social media polls.

Football: Marist almost found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against Valparaiso, blowing a 14-point lead in the second half before winning 27-24 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. Redshirt junior running back Hunter Cobb had a dominant day on the ground, finishing with 146 yards and two touchdowns. It was the first Marist win in 679 days.

Men’s Soccer: Stefan Copetti was knocking on the door all night during Marist’s 2-0 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday at Tenney Stadium. The junior fired four shots on goal before finally breaking through in the 86th minute to give the Red Foxes the goal that put things out of reach for the Bobcats.

Volleyball: Marist split a pair of road contests at Saint Peter’s and Rider over the weekend. In the Red Foxes’ win against the Peacocks, sophomore outside hitter Jordan Newblatt put on another strong performance, finishing with a career-high 26 kills and added 20 digs for another 20-20 game.
Women’s Soccer: The women’s team also played Quinnipiac, but could not get a result on the road, falling 1-0 in double overtime. Senior goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner was as solid as ever, stopping eight shots, including a penalty kick in the first overtime period.
