The games are becoming more important as the fall season comes to a close. Here’s a look at the best performances by Marist athletes this weekend.
Football: It was a disappointingly flat performance on the road for the Red Foxes as they lost 27-7 to PFL new-kids St. Thomas. Redshirt safety Teddy Wright was one of the few bright spots, registering a game-high 13 tackles. Marist returns home to face Drake this weekend.
Volleyball: It looks like Marist is peaking at the right time. They’ve won four in a row, including victories over Rider and St. Peter’s this weekend. Senior libero Morgan Owens continues to show why she is among the best at her position in the MAAC, with 33 digs in the two games.
Women’s Cross Country: Fifth-year senior Hayley Collins finished a team-high 11th place at the MAAC Championships in Florida. She ran the 6K course in a time of 21:44.5 and earned all-MAAC honors for the first time.
Men’s Soccer: The Red Foxes let a 2-0 lead at Niagara slip away, before saving things in overtime. Graduate defender Huib Achterkamp scored the game-winning penalty in double-overtime as Marist stayed atop the MAAC standings with the victory.
