All-MAAC First Teamer Josh Pascarelli Enters Transfer Portal

Marist men’s basketball sophomore guard Josh Pascarelli announced that he is entering the transfer portal, per Travis Branham of 247sports.

After two seasons in Poughkeepsie, Pascarelli leaves Marist to presumably attend a high-major school.

The sophomore made the All-MAAC first team in 2024-25 averaging 15 points per game on 45% shooting from the floor and 39% shooting from 3-point range, making 81 from deep. Pascarelli cemented himself as one of the best shooters in the MAAC finishing fourth in total 3-pointers and third in 3-pointers per game.

Pascarelli is the first Marist All-MAAC first-teamer since 2007 and was named to the NABC All-District team. Along with Jadin Collins-Roberts’ arrival at Marist, the guard duo immediately started as freshmen and put the program back on the map. Going 18-13 in 2023-24, earning a No. 3 seed in the MAAC championships. Marist won 20 games this season for the first time since 2007 en route to another No. 3 seed in Atlantic City.

The season ended on a sour note, losing five games in a row, including a quarterfinal loss to the No. 6 seed and eventual MAAC champions, Mount St. Mary’s.

Pascarelli is next in line of prominent Marist guards moving to high-major schools in recent years. Jao Ituka transferred to Wake Forest and Ricardo Wright transferred to SMU in 2021 after All-MAAC second-team seasons.

In his freshman campaign, Pascarelli made the All-MAAC rookie team averaging 11 points per game, and shooting 37% from behind the arc.

Now, Marist loses their leading scorer and best perimeter shooter, leaving a large hole in their roster for the 2025-26 season. The MAAC has now lost all five of the first team members, a growing trend among mid to low-major conferences in college basketball.
