A postgame write up never said, “Alex Marinelli was up at midnight catching for the Marist pitchers before their shutout,” or “The win came from Alex Marinelli helping a pitcher talk through a bad start last night,” but that’s fine with Alex. He came to terms with his unsung hero role, knowing the positive impact he was having on the team.

There are 3,790 miles between Copenhagen, Denmark and Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Thousands of miles away from his home, Simon Lund Jorgensen has made the Marist Men’s Soccer team his family. Named captain as just a freshman, Simon has been at the helm of the program for three and a half years – an honor for most players to serve just one.
“I really enjoy football, but I enjoy seeing how happy it makes my grandfather and seeing the look in his eyes, how he still feels young,” Anthony said.
“My goals are team-oriented,” Randy said. “If my batting average is something that I don’t like, I’m going to press myself and want to get a hit, instead of me focusing on getting on base for the team. I think when you look at stats, for me, you get self-centered.”

In the team’s third MAAC championship victory, Tierney was named the Most Outstanding Player of the game. The Red Foxes will advance to the NCAA tournament, where they will play an opponent to be determined in Sunday night’s selection show, which will occur at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
On a warm Thursday night, Marist faced off against MAAC foe Canisius in the semifinal Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament game in front of a ruckus crowd of students and parents. Marist ultimately took the victory with a close score of 11-10.
