Saturday afternoon the Marist Red Foxes took care of business in the first game of their double header against conference foe Niagara University. After both contests, they now have won three of their last four games late into the season and sit in fifth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
The Marist baseball team once again faced rival Canisius College in another MAAC matchup on Sunday. The Red Foxes would unfortunately fall to the Golden Griffins, with the game ending in a final score of 8-6.

In the last at bat for Marist, with runners on first and second base, senior Frankie Gregoire grounded out to second base and clinched the game for Albany. The unfortunate day for the Foxes ended the way it began, by leaving runners stranded on base.
About 20 feet. That’s how close Marist’s baseball team came to more late game heroics. On a warmer day or with the wind blowing out, Frankie Gregoire’s deep shot to right center could have carried over the wall for a game tying home run in the ninth inning.
Kocinski finished things off with some late-inning heroics—but he couldn’t do the job alone.
“It is the one year anniversary of my grandfather’s death. He was with me in the box right there,” Kocinski said. “I looked up during my last at bat and thought ‘help me out here, help the guys out.’ And that’s exactly what happened.”
