Marist women’s soccer’s 2025 schedule features a program high of seven non-conference opponents; all the Red Foxes’ non-conference matchups will feature different opponents from last year’s schedule, besides NJIT, which they will play at home.
Non-Conference Matchups
Providence College (Big East) – Away – August 5
Marist and Providence’s last matchup was in 2015, a 2-1 Providence win at home. Dating back to 2001, the Red Foxes and Friars have faced off eight total times; Marist has never come out on top. The Friars ended the 2024 season 6-9-3, finishing in the bottom four of the Big East.
Wagner (NEC) – Away – August 10
Marist and Wagner have faced off twice in the two teams’ history, splitting back-to-back matchups in their 2011 and 2012 non-conference schedules. The Seahawks ended last season 8-5-6 overall, 7-1-2 in NEC play. Wagner faced three MAAC teams during non-conference play in 2024, tying both Rider and Iona and losing 3-0 to Manhattan. The Seahawks made it to the NEC semifinals, where they got shut out 3-0 by FDU.
Fordham (A-10) – Away – August 15
The Rams last played the Red Foxes in 2021 when they traveled to Poughkeepsie and lost 2-1. Fordham entered the A-10 2024 championships as the No. 4 seed and lost to No. 5 Saint Joseph’s at home by one. In non-conference play last year, Fordham faced off against two MAAC teams: Manhattan, whom they beat 2-1, and the reigning MAAC champions, Fairfield, who shut out the Rams 5-0.
Colgate (Patriot League) – Away – August 21
Colgate is another program that the Red Foxes have not faced since the early 2000s.The two teams squared off four times between 2007 and 2012, although Marist only took away one draw while being dealt three losses and being outscored 3-7. The one draw, a 1-1 final in 2009, was the only of the four matchups to be played in Poughkeepsie.
NJIT (America East Conference) – Home – August 24
NJIT is the only team that the Red Foxes faced off against last season; the matchup will also be Marist’s home opener. Last year, the Red Foxes traveled to Newark, New Jersey, to face NJIT for the first time since 2017. The teams ended the game in a 0-0 draw, although NJIT outshot the visiting Red Foxes 17-6. NJIT finished the 2024 season 4-10-3, in the bottom two of the America East conference.
Binghamton (America East Conference) – Home – August 28
The Bobcats birthed an America East Conference championship run last season, losing to the No. 2 New Hampshire in the conference semifinals. Binghamton has won two regular-season titles in the last three years, finishing third in 2024 with a 4-2-2 conference record and 7-6-5 overall record.
A component of Binghamton’s 2022 and 2023 regular season titles is senior forward Samiya Reid, who transferred to Marist after her sophomore season as a Bobcat. Reid played in all 17 games for Binghamton during her sophomore year and tallied her first collegiate goal in the America East championship during her freshman year. Reid appeared in 16 games for the Red Foxes last season, finishing the season with 12 starts and five goals.
Holy Cross (Patriot League) – Away – August 31
Holy Cross is the team’s second-to-last non-conference matchup, and will act as the last non-conference before the Red Foxes begin MAAC play. This will be the ninth meeting for these teams, with Holy Cross holding seven wins over the Red Foxes. Holy Cross finished 2-5-2 in conference play in 2024 and failed to make a postseason berth.
New Haven (NEC) – Home – September 9
New Haven will be the Red Foxes’ last non-conference game of the season, following their first MAAC matchup with Iona at home on September 6. This is also New Haven’s first year as a Division I program after being moved up from the Northeast-10 Conference in Division II. The Chargers leave Division II with five NE10 championships and six NCAA tournament appearances.
MAAC Matchups
The Red Foxes struggled to produce on offense last season, ending last in the MAAC in shots, assists, goals and points. Marist ended its season with 167 shots, compared to the MAAC champions Fairfield’s 450 shots.
Marist ended last year’s campaign 3-11-3 overall and 3-7-2 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes will play three more games than last season, adding to their non-conference schedule.
Marist has a very similar roster to the 2024 season, only having two seniors graduate. The Red Foxes finished last in the MAAC for goals scored two years in a row. Scoring less than 10 goals in the past two seasons. With most of the team returning and a new class of freshmen, improving offensive production will be a key focus for the team heading into the season.
